dream venue

LSL Event Design is #1 in Versatility...and has done it all through the years at Historic Rucker Place

At LSL Event Design, the beginning of a new year always brings reflections on past joys, even as we look ahead to a fantastic future.  One of our favorite weddings at Historic Rucker Place was the exquisite vintage celebration of Mary Highfield and Jonathan LeCroy.  Though we’ve loved every event we’ve done in our ten-year affiliation with Rucker, this wedding simply radiated Southern charm — which is what Rucker Place is all about!  From the garden pergola adorned with pastel ribbons, lace embroidery hoops, and a magnificent spray of flowers, to the fabulous hundred year-old wrap-around porch hung with delicate paper lanterns, the flowers and decorations reflected this couple’s roots in Southern soil.

The details of this event were so important, and it was our pleasure to bring Mary’s vision into focus.  She started the ball rolling herself, but when time grew short for this “DIY” bride, LSL Event Design jumped in to create additional lace hoops, and an ample supply of paper cones filled with rose petals meant for tossing on the happy couple.

LSL Event Design felt so fortunate that this lovely Huntsville bride found her dream venue in Birmingham’s Historic Rucker Place…..and we were thrilled to learn that she’d be bringing White Rabbit Studios with her!  Her desire for true Southern style and a vintage look gave us the opportunity to utilize elements from several of our collections:  silver trays from Bromberg’s, tiny antique bottles, and milk glass vases.  As a signature flower, this bride wanted poppies—not always easy to find in late September—and we managed to fulfill her wishes.  A few unopened buds added extra interest, along with tulips, tea roses, ranunculus, Queen Anne’s lace, and thistle.

LSL Event Design also took great delight in granting a special request by creating little flowers of lace to tuck into her bouquet and other unexpected places.  Our bride loved so many flowers that the final mix — including gorgeous garden roses, dahlias, freesia, lisianthus, and hydrangea -- was simply breathtaking!

As the bride and groom departed their celebration, they saw one last surprise: the special message Mary had given LSL’s Laure Friedman at the last minute.  Around the trunk of a stately oak, glittered letters attached to a braid flowing with fringe read “LOVE ALWAYS”.

And as LSL Event Design looks back on this fabulous and joyful experience, we are reminded that we ALWAYS LOVE doing beautiful weddings and events at this consummately Southern and gracious Historic home...Rucker Place!
